Personalized Treatment Designed Around You

The right treatment for chronic pain depends on what’s causing your symptoms, how pain is affecting your daily life, and what treatments you’ve already tried. At Bux Pain Management, Dr. Anjum Bux takes an individualized approach, using conservative and minimally invasive treatments whenever appropriate to help reduce pain and improve function.

Our goal is to find the treatment option that helps you move more comfortably and get back to the things you love.

Epidural Steroid Injections

Epidural steroid injections are minimally invasive treatments that deliver medication near irritated or inflamed spinal nerves. They may help reduce inflammation and provide relief for pain that begins in the spine and travels into other areas of the body.

Epidural injections may be considered for conditions such as:

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Sciatica
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Radiculopathy
  • Certain types of back and neck pain

For some patients, reducing pain and inflammation can also make it easier to participate in physical therapy and other activities that support recovery.

Facet Joint Injections & Radiofrequency Ablation

The facet joints are small joints located along the spine that provide stability and help with movement. When these joints become irritated or arthritic, they can contribute to chronic neck or back pain.

Facet joint injections or medial branch blocks may be used to help determine whether the facet joints are the source of pain. For appropriate patients, radiofrequency ablation may then be used to interrupt pain signals from the affected nerves and provide longer-lasting relief.

These treatments may be considered for:

  • Chronic back pain
  • Chronic neck pain
  • Facet joint pain
  • Arthritis of the spine
  • Spondylolisthesis

Sacroiliac Joint Treatments

The sacroiliac, or SI, joints connect the lower spine to the pelvis. When an SI joint becomes irritated or unstable, it can cause pain in the lower back, buttocks, hips, or legs.

Depending on the cause and severity of the pain, treatment options may include SI joint injections and other minimally invasive procedures designed to reduce pain and improve stability.

SI joint treatments may be appropriate for patients experiencing:

  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Lower back pain
  • Buttock or hip pain
  • Pain associated with inflammation or instability of the SI joint

Joint Injections

Joint injections can help reduce pain and inflammation in joints affected by arthritis, injury, or other degenerative conditions. Medication is delivered directly into the affected joint, allowing treatment to target the source of pain.

Joint injections may be considered for pain involving the:

  • Knees
  • Hips
  • Shoulders
  • Other joints affected by arthritis or inflammation

The type of injection recommended depends on the affected joint, the cause of the pain, and the patient’s individual needs.

Minimally Invasive Spine Procedures

For some patients with chronic back or leg pain, minimally invasive procedures may provide an alternative to more extensive surgery.

Bux Pain Management offers advanced procedures designed to address specific causes of pain while minimizing disruption to surrounding tissue.

These treatments may be considered for conditions such as:

  • Lumbar spinal stenosis
  • Vertebral compression fractures
  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Certain types of chronic back and leg pain

Options may include procedures such as mild®, kyphoplasty, and minimally invasive SI joint procedures, depending on the patient’s diagnosis and individual needs.

Neurostimulation

Neurostimulation uses mild electrical impulses to change or interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain. It can be an option for certain patients with chronic nerve-related pain who have not experienced adequate relief with more conservative treatments.

Neurostimulation therapies offered by Bux Pain Management may include spinal cord stimulation and dorsal root ganglion stimulation.

These treatments may be considered for:

  • Diabetic peripheral neuropathy
  • Radiculopathy
  • Sciatica
  • Chronic nerve pain
  • Neuropathy
  • Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
  • Persistent pain after back surgery
  • Certain types of chronic back and leg pain

Patients typically complete a temporary trial before deciding whether an implanted neurostimulation system is appropriate.

Intrathecal Pain Pump Therapy

Intrathecal therapy uses an implanted pump to deliver medication directly into the fluid surrounding the spinal cord. Because medication is delivered close to the area where pain signals travel, significantly smaller amounts of medication may be needed than with oral medications.

Intrathecal pain pump therapy may be considered for certain patients with severe chronic pain who have not achieved adequate relief through other treatment approaches.

Dr. Bux has extensive experience with intrathecal therapies and has spoken nationally on the use of pain pump therapy in interventional pain management.

These treatments may be considered for:

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Post laminectomy syndrome
  • Complex regional pain syndrome
  • Radiculopathy
  • Compression fractures
  • Chronic neck or low back pain
  • Pancreatitis
  • Cancer pain

Other Interventional Pain Treatments

Pain is complex, and not every patient fits neatly into a single diagnosis or treatment category. Bux Pain Management offers additional interventional treatments based on a patient’s condition, symptoms, previous care, and treatment goals.

Treatment options may include:

  • Advanced injection therapies
  • Nerve blocks
  • Treatments for shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia
  • Regenerative treatment options
  • Other minimally invasive approaches to chronic pain management

For patients experiencing persistent nerve pain following shingles, Dr. Bux may recommend interventional treatments designed to target the affected nerves and help reduce ongoing pain.
